Bunker Hill + Metal Arts: A Legacy of Silver Excellence

Updated: Jan 6

If you are a collector of vintage silver, you may have heard of the Bunker Hill Company, one of the most prominent mining and smelting enterprises in the history of the United States. Founded in 1885, the Bunker Hill Company operated in the Silver Valley of northern Idaho, producing millions of ounces of silver, lead, and zinc over the course of a century.

The Bunker Hill Company was a leader in the mining industry and also is well known for producing one-of-a-kind hand-poured ingots which are now extremely sought after in the collector community and demand extremely high premiums. The Metal Arts Company out of Rochester, NY created a limited edition run of roughly 30,000 1oz medallions, which were produced with silver from the actual Bunker Hill Mine. In 1981 and 1982, the company issued a series of five one-ounce silver rounds, each depicting a different aspect of Bunker Hill's operations and history. These rounds, known as the Bunker Hill Metal Arts Medallion Series, are highly sought-after by collectors and investors alike, as they represent the legacy of a legendary company and the beauty of pure silver. Each round depicts a different part of Bunker Hill's legacy. The rounds were originally issued in blue binders, which contained information about each round.
