This Johnson Matthey Italy Garantito Metalli Preziosi MP 1oz Silver Bar is a must-have for any collector or investor. These bars, with METALLI PREZIOSI written in ALL CAPS, have a limited mintage of only 2,000 according to AllEngelhard. This bar is a rare find and a great addition to any collection. The bar was manufactured in Italy.
 
Johnson Matthey’s Italian subsidiary produced these unique bars featuring the MP (Metalli Preziosi) stamp in low quantities. These bars feature a white matte finish because of the production process of these particular bars, which involved the combination and fusing of silver powders and foils. Through testing of multiple bars in varying weight classes, we found that, despite being marked .999 fine silver, when tested using a Sigma Metalytics Precious Metals Verifier, the bars tend to test closer to .925 sterling silver. However, we believe that, due to the composition of the bars, some testing equipment may inaccurately estimate the purity as the granular nature of the powder and foils can be difficult to verify (see the last listing photo of a cracked planchet, which shows the inside composition of these particular bars).
 
The bar pictured may or may not be the bar you will receive but you will receive a bar in similar aged condition. You will not receive the bar with a cracked planchet. The bar may exhibit some imperfections including but not limited to discoloration/toning, scratches/smudges, and other similar blemishes.
