Engelhard is known for producing the latest variety of MTB Liberty bars and rounds (1985-1986) and their 1986 dated 10oz Liberty Trade silver bar has an estimated mintage of 7,500 making it a difficult bar to come by. Johnson Matthey produced two variations of the 10oz MTB Liberty Trade silver bar, one of which was dated with the 1982 date stamp (8,500 minted) and another, which was left undated (a mere 1,000 minted). For this listing, you will receive the more common but still highly collectible 8,500 minted Johnson Matthey 10oz MTB Liberty Trade silver bar type. This unique bar features lady liberty on the obverse and the repeating diagonal MTB logo on the reverse along with the purity, weight, and the JM Hammer logo. The bar you will receive will come with its own unique serial number and may or may not be the serial number pictured. The bar you will receive is decades old and will contain its own unique imperfections such as scratches/smudges/spots, toning/discoloration, and other blemishes, but they have been tested for purity and weight.
